Dear Readers,
A day late and a dollar short? Actually for once I am not a dollar short. I am getting the bills paid this week and I might have an extra dollar or two for myself. Now before you ask no my money tree didn’t mature, hubby just had a good two weeks. I sold some graphic designs from my new website, and a kitty went to a new home. So over all that spells good things for Ye Olde bills.
Today’s belated Dear Readers is going to be a little bit long. Sorry for that. Have any of you my dear readers watched Hoarders? Or Intervention? I have to say the shows are both heart breaking. I watched two episodes of Hoarders this morning, and I couldn’t believe this one woman. Her house was so bad her children had been taken from her. The court said she needed to clean the house, and get mental help for her hoarding. That she needed to do these things to get her children back.
So the woman had the team from hoarders come in. They are there to help. The whole way/. The woman picks and chooses and hardly gets rid of anything. Eventually she leaves ad they toss most of it. But In the end she still had over 1,400 boxes of stuff. I just I cant fathom that. I am not a great house keeper myself. I do have clutter. But I don’t have 1,400 boxes worth of stuff. While my house is cluttered you can see the surfaces you can move freely. You don’t sleep on piles of stuff and my kitties get around just fine.
I know hoarding is a disease but I just can’t fathom choosing all of that stuff over your kids. Or the fact that there is literally a ton of garbage around the house. Clutter is one thing garbage is another. I do understand they need help But I wish the professionals would be more forceful. Because when someone won’t help themselves it’s my personal feelings that sometimes you just need to push them the rest of the way. But I guess that is my thought on the matter.
Intervention just makes me sad. To see what has happened to these people who are in the grips of drugs. To see how low they have spiraled. Right now they are doing a follow-up episode and they have a girl named Allison on who used in halants. She took the keyboard duster and inhaled it. First of all that’s sad because you can buy those legally. Second of all it’s just sad. One thing I am curious is that she had a nice apartment, and she bought up to 10 cans of the inhalant a day. She didn’t appear to work. Where was she getting the money? Stealing I suppose but from the appearance her family gave her the money. Talk about enabling. Major enabling.
But I think I Have talked your ears off a lot today. My apologies on being so late. I didn’t do much of anything yesterday. I was down with my sickness again. I hate being sick (I know I have said that before) but there is a time when you just sigh and say I am sick of being sick. This week was one of those weeks. And it was also a week where I wanted to just stay in bed and do nothing all week. Let the sick have me. But I didn’t. I got a few things done. Especially my graphic design website Lady Ambrosia Creations, which I am proud of.
I truly am proud of opening up the blog design store. And the designs I have done so far I am very proud of as well. I think they are all showing great progress and I look forward to each one I get to do. I hope my give away is a success and that when the winner is pulled they enjoy their end result.
Oh how I wish I could afford her, Because frankly for her breeding she is dirt cheap. I have fallen in love with a beautiful Grey Filly by Alada Baskin.
I hate being stuck. And what am I stuck on you might ask? I am stuck on what I want to make for my Maria costume. For those of you who don’t know who Maria is, she is the Vampire who Made Jasper from the Twilight Saga books. A Civil war era Vampire who thrived during the Vampire Wars with Jasper as the commander of her army.
First things First I know I will have to get red contacts. Because Maria feeds on humans. But other than that I am not sure what to do. I have had several ideas. But I haven’t been able to grasp on one. There are so many styles of Civil war dress I could go with. I don’t think Maria would be a fully upper crust lady, but something also tells me she wouldn’t be just a plain peasant. Jasper describes the three women when he sees them as beautiful and Angelic. I think the dress would be geared for that as well.
Presently I am thinking of a dress similar to this:
But I don’t see Maria in white. Of course I won’t fully know what she will be in until Eclipse is out and frankly I have no intention of waiting that long to make my dress. I pictured something off the shoulders at first. But now I am not sure. I have been playing back and forth on a lot of things.
Now my personal favorite color of course is purple. But I am not sure Maria would be in purple. Personally when I feel Maria I feel Reds and Blacks. But that’s just me. I could be wrong I am certainly not always right. So I am sure I have babbled and rambled and some of you are wondering what the heck I am talking about. Ha-ha. No fear I shall make it work. And when I do I will have pictures that I promise you.
1. When was the last time you jetted away for the holidays?
Honestly? Never. I have always been in Minnesota for the holidays. It would be nice to celebrate them somewhere else. I would love a colonial Christmas in VA.
2. What is your fondest birthday memory?
That is a hard one alot of my B-days mesh together. But I think if I had to pick one it would be when I was 7, my best friend at the time gave me a teddy bear wrapped in purple wrapping paper. and I still have it.
3. What names do you go by?
Well my common name, my nickname (which I don't share on cyberspace sorry) and of course Ambrosia, Lady Ambrosia and Lady A.
4. What do you look forward to most in the next six weeks?
Snuggling up in the house with some hot cocoa. And maybe watching some neat Christmas History shows on the History Channel. Is that Sad?
5. Where is your least favorite place to be, and why?
The Doctors office. Nuff said.
6. Have you ever had a scary stalker type?
Yes I have. And I am pretty sure I still do. One of the reasons I no longer use my real name or nickname in cyberspace. Creepy lady.
7. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Fudge. Who doesn't love fudge?
8. What are two activities you do after eating Thanksgiving Dinner?
Turkey coma, and leftovers.
9. What did your family do for Thanksgiving when you were a kid? Do you still do it? If not explain why.
We all gathered together at whomevers house was hosting it (usually Grandma) and ate. Most years I had two dinners. Sadly we no longer gather in big gatherings. When my Great Grandma passed away on one side of the family no one decided to get together anymore. And on the otherside of the family its been my Grandmother passing that stopped it. But we had a small gathering this year.
This is one of my favorite paintings. It truly is. I absolutely love it. The gown is NOT 1600’s we are more into the 1300’s kind of era with this one. So it’s not “renaissance” by any means. However this is one of my favorite paintings, and I think this would make a lovely renewal vow dress. It is not purple at all ha but it is beautiful. And I could make the gold trim purple instead.
So apparently today they are having a say yes to the dress marathon on TLC. And I find myself watching shows like this because as a sewer and costume designer I enjoy watching all the different dresses. But even as someone who knows how much goes into sewing, how much fabrics cost I can not believe what some brides will pay for a gown. There was one bride who paid 20, 000 dollars for a custom made designer gown. And than when she came in she decided she didn’t like it. Than she got another dress by the same designer that was 27,000 dollars. Came back and decided she wanted the lace taken off the skirt. Which IMO and in her dad opinion too ruined the gown. I mean really?! Oh and mind you she didn’t like the first one because she wanted lots of heavy beading and the top to be see through. This is impossible. With the heavy beading the see through material would have fallen away from her body.
So than we go from the amazingly shockingly priced bride to the bride whose mother hated everything she put on. Just hated it. I mean wasn’t just like “I don’t like it” she was Brutal. And there was one gown with a Victorian lace overlay (BEAUTIFUL) that the bride just LOVED she was near in tears when she came out in it. And her mother was cruel to it. But the bride ended up picking that dress anyone. And mom ended up dealing with it. I just don’t think she was the kind of mom who was going to be happy with anything her daughter picked. Because her daughter had very different taste. She had taste kind of like me. Out there.
So I am enjoying this show but the way some people act just startles me. It makes me go seriously? Why? It is also making me remember that in two years I will be renewing my vows with my husband out at the MN Renaissance festival. Which is where I wanted to get married but they were booked the year I wanted to get married. So we decided for 5 years we would renew out there. Nice huh? But now I am left with the thought of what I should do for my renewal gown. I want to be comfortable, and yet I want to be a Queen for the day. Not that I didn’t look fantastic on my original wedding day (I think I did) but I really want to be a Queen. So I am thinking full renaissance regalia, with Purples and creams. Because well I don’t get to wear purple out there much unless I am being sneaky. (Which I am known to do). So who knows what I will do its two years away, but I am thinking about it now for obvious reasons. Gowns take a while to make. Especially major gowns. It is time to start sketching.

Dear Readers,
What a week this has been. I have done some reading, and I have done some building on my second life sim. But mostly I have been working on a blog for a friend. The project is a bit more than I thought it would be, but that’s okay it’s turning out really well and she’s happy with it so far. So that makes me as the designer a happy camper. I haven’t gotten much sleep this week, which isn’t helping me feel better. But I guess there are worse things in the world.
Another thing I picked up to try to feel useful is needlepoint. I used to do it all the time when I was younger a friend of mine had a huge collection of designs and floss, but it’s been years since I have done it. While looking for something in the cabinet I found a set of designs and such I got off free cycle. So I started doing one. It is a flower pot with some flowers in it. So far it’s looking okay. Although the one frustrating thing for me about needlepoint is that it takes forever to actually look like anything. It just looks like a blob for a long while. But what can you do about it? Just keep on working. So far I have one flower and the twirly bottom of the pot.
The book I started reading last night as well was A Lady of High Regard by Tracie Peterson, so far I like it although I am only 1 chapter in. But so far I am glad that I got the series in one. So I just set my needlepoint aside and since I am still awake I am probably going to start reading again.
I am a little saddened by the fact that one of my kitties went home yesterday. She has a good home, so I am not worried about that I just miss her. She was one of Caesars last babies. And so that makes it a little tough on me. I miss my baby boy Caesar very much. Another wonderful thing this week though is that the movie New Moon came out. How can you not love New Moon? Okay well I will admit that it’s not my favorite of the books. However the movie was very well done. Taylor Launter played his part perfectly. I admit I was a bit worried after his first performance if he could carry the movie mostly himself. Well I had no reason to worry. So well done to Taylor. And well done to the rest of the Cast and Crew of New Moon. Now I just wait for my favorite Movie to come out. Eclipse. It was my favorite book so it’s labeled my favorite Movie.
1. Has anyone in your life talked in their sleep? No but my husband does alot of odd hand gestures in his sleep.
2. What do you like about fall? The Colors 3. Do you have an addictive personality? Sort of.
4. Who was the last person to do something extra special for you? My mom.
5. Would you ever take someone back if they cheated on you? I am not sure. I don't think I would, because once a cheater...
6. Are you happy with where you are in life? Not really, but its because I am sick and I don't like being sick.
7. Do you believe that you can change someone? No I don't and if you love someone you should love them for whom they are.
8. Have you ever wished you could've had someone but you couldn't? Yes once.
9. Would you ever fight someone over your significant other? Well I am not sure I would get in a fist fight. But I did get in some spats with a few of his exes when we were going out.
